random contemplation

you know, i don't know if my parents know about my lj or not, but if they do, i wouldn't put it past them to not tell me they knew. They always want to know what's going on in my life and they know that i'm reluctant to give them that information (although they might not know that it's not all personal - i don't tell a lot of people about my life), so they might decide to sneakily find out about my life and my thoughts through my lj.

They've done that before to me (and my bro too), asking someone else what's going on with my life, or trying to find snippets of information about my life behind my back, and then jumping to some rash conclusions based on the little information that they have. That's part of the reason it's so hard to talk to them, or at least my mom - she'll start making up facts that *could* be true and making them out to be *definitely* true, thus making her think she understands me.

i'm not sure what i think of my parents finding out about my lj. on the one hand, it would clam me up and make me be more cautious about what i say, but on the other hand, there's a certain disconnection i have from my parents about what they think. i love them and i appreciate what they do for me, but i don't exactly *learn* from them anymore. i'm not sure if i have in a long time. i've always been better at learning things for myself and from my peers than from my parents. maybe it's a generation gap thing. hard to say.

generation gap
i think in your case (as well as mine), it's cultural, too. our parents grew up in the old country with different values, ideas, traditions. we may be from their blood, but we are also products of our environment. having grown up in america, it's hard to see things from their perspective some times. life for us is much different than life for them.

as for them finding out about your lj don't let it get to you. you're working on important issues here. don't let the mere thought that your parents might find it stem the flow. that would be a shame.

p.s. can you guess who this is????
p.p.s. i'm honored to be the first one commenting in your lj.
