three four

3/4 has to be one of the most underappreciated time signatures ever. because the more i think about it and build new projects in my head that i want to realize, the more i realize just how much it fucking rocks.

i'm not talking waltz here. in general i don't like waltzes unless i'm actually dnacing them.

i'm talking versatility to move between feels and rhythms and compound versus simple and hemiolas and the whole nine yards. ten yards.

anyway, that's it.

I'm making a chart for a song that's in 3/4 (or 6/8 depending on how you look at it)...it's really weird, but I think it'll be a lot of fun.

Well it was considered "Perfect Time" ages ago when music was developing. I think 4/4 is just simpler and the "default" for most musicians these days.

totally agreed. what's funny though, is that i usually think the same thing, only my default 3/4 is to really think of it as 6/8.(does that make sense?) they're basically the same thing, y'know?
