Hurt

I like the harmonies of the original NiN version of Hurt. But even though he took the tritones away, and even though he simplifies the instrumentation and timbres, there's something so powerful, so profound about the version that Johnny Cash did that makes me like it more.

I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it says something about Johnny Cash. I mean, he's just hands down fucking awesome. Such a genius. Decades, this man has written music and been a legend. and it's all just.... great.

*shakes head in admiration*

Have you seen the Video for it? It's very simple...yet very powerful in context of the song.

yeah...cash rules
and i dont care what anyone says, his last couple albums are a-mazing.

all the covers he does are great.

there is something about the frailty and desperate quality in the voice of a man like johnny cash that is so terribly humbling and powerful.

ok, i'm quiet now.

ex-*act*-ly.

that's what the one snippet of video portrayed as well. i mean, if you pass him on the street or see him in the window, you could easily pass him off as being just an old man. But then you hear the music, you see how he performs, you really listen to what he says in interviews... he's absolutely amazing.
