initial DD impressions

so after a couple sessions of iidx distorted, i've come to the following initial impressions:

- the interface is pretty slick, and the background music choice for kors k is the shit.
- RUGGED ASH. the a14 is amazingly fun to play.
- in general i'm finding the double charts a lot of fun to play because across the board there's a lot of different sort of patterns and techniques and variations of techniques and such that keep evolving from style to style, albeit in subtle ways. that's nice.
- coupled with that, however, i'm finding that out of all of the iidx mixes i've ever played, this is probably my least favorite mix when it comes to the actual music.

okay. pollinisisiosisish is a decent song, nice and squarewavey and harsh and etc. And if it spurned some children that felt like the same genre but did different things with it, i might be okay with it, but the four or five songs that clone the style don't sound enough different from pollisionfdowfh for me to find anything good about them.

i dunno. maybe i'll find more good stuff as i play it more. surprisingly i kind of like the noria song, that 400bpm Mr. T song, and MINT. i don't care what all y'all say. Slake got much better as the years went by. i've liked his stuff since about 9th style.

I thought this mix was ok, one of my favorite most recent mixes is happy sky.

i like happy sky well enough too, though i think i like 10th a little better. i think i put happy sky and red at about the same level.

General impressions are that GOLD is the weakest of the recent releases.
Guess we'll see how DJ TROOPERS does.

I really dislike Due Tomorrrow but then I'm bad at it so it's very likely just sour grapes.

there's actually a few tracks that stick out as awesome to me in Gold. heaven above is one of my favorite songs ever in mixes since red. i like the Shadow well enough too as a song, although i'm not sold on the chart. vanessa and snow storm are fun too.

still, that's still only a small sample. i don't know much about the full song list of Gold, only about 20 or 30 of them, and of those 20 or 30 i like maybe those 4 plsu two more. in DD i *seem* to like less, but maybe because the list is just more comprehensive.

:( DD is probably my fav style of all time. I'm glad I chose DD to buy the LE.

Due Tomorrow, while I don't really like it, I can see why people do. Mint, well, it's slake. And Mint[a] as the first song in 9th dan can kiss my ass.

10th style is still my favorite style for songs. DD is very pretty and I really like how streamlined the interface feels.
