light patterns

when i was driving to work this morning, i ended up behind a large flatbed truck thinger. In between the typical taillights that are placed around the wheels, there was a panel of lights in the center of the rear which had a pattern that looked like this:

The line represents where there was a separation point between the bottom part of the panel which was around the tire area and the top part which was more connected to the flatbed.

it was fascinating to me, almost profound, because i couldn't figure it out. was it supposed to be functional or was it some sort of logo? If it is a logo, is it supposed to be the letter N or the letter A or some sort of A/N combination, or nothing at all? all of these questions fired off in my head about the purpose and the meaning and the structure of these lights.

and i bet the person that designed and put it there was probably just bored one day and came up with the idea on a bar napkin.

This train of thought reminds me that i've seen drum corps drill taught to groups from a beer-stained bar napkin before.

Anyway. *more tangenting mumbles*
