historical events

some sites which offer you the option to create a profile have an option of "historical event you would have liked to have witnessed". People typically put in things like "the birth of Jesus Christ" or "the fall of Rome" or "the signing of the constitution" or things of that sort of nature.

Me, the one i would put down is "the look on Nolan Bushnell's and Al Alcorn's face when they discovered why Pong had stopped working."

The pong machine was installed in a bar just a couple miles from sv golfland. The place is now a small comedy club.

i forgot to comment on this when you posted it and say, "dammit. i've been to SVGL *how* many times now, and i've never ever known how close Pong was." next time i go down there, i'll have to visit.

I don't think the comedy club (Rooster T Feathers) has anything to mark the historical significance of the location. I've been there a bunch of times and haven't seen anything related to Pong, or any video game for that matter. They do have an entertaining ~monthly "geek comedy night" which a friend of mine runs.

Anyway, you should at least visit me next time you're in Sunnyvale!
