the ridiculousness of madden 2004

Laura is out of town for a week, so Kurt had the place to himself (minus two bunnies). So Brian and I kept him company for a while.

A portion of the night consisted of him and me playing a game of Madden 2004 on the PS2. Don't get me wrong... it's a freakin' awesome game... the look and the feel and the graphics and the flexibility of gameplay, but especially in comparison to previous renditions of the Madden franchise, it's just... ridiculously hard to play defense and prevent your opponent from scoring.

Kurt and I have played two games against each other. The first was maybe a month and a half ago. We played 10 minute periods, and our final score was something like 83-80. He scored a touchdown on the last play to win. I ended up having something like 600 yards passing, and he had something like 550.

This time, we played 15 minute periods. Final score: 98-95. And fourteen of those points were scored in the last 45 seconds. This time it was my turn to score a touchdown to win. I had about 890 yards passing, and he had a whopping 960 yards passing. My fullback had almost 200 receiving yards, and boy, was he a slow fullback.

You know that the defensive game is much harder to pull off when in the entire first half there was only one drive in which a touchdown was prevented.

Fun and crazy times, for sure.

On a scale of one to awesome, that sounds really great. Wish I could've been there.

hells yeah
I gotta agree with you. While Im a huge fan of the madden franchise, and only have one complaint about 2004, you're right it is damn hard to play defense. against the computer its fine, but since Im more of a run the ball clock control guy, when I have doozel throwin 80 yard passes to Rice every play, it totally throws me off my game plan. Oh well, Im still undefeated.
