eleventh hour with rufus sewell

as i was watching the telly at mark's whilst babysitting their animals, an advert caught my eye that showed actor rufus sewell, the guy who was the lead character in the film Dark City. It turns out that the advert was for the show Eleventh Hour

in my head i thought, "isn't that a british telly show?" and upon looking it up discovered that the one advertised was a US remake of the original british show, and that it's running on a similar timeslot to Life on Mars, which made me think, "wait, wasn't *that* a british telly show that starred john simm?", and sure enough, that has also undergone a US remake.

i guess i shouldn't be surprised since i know the US has already stolen lots of telly concepts from britian, particularly reality telly such as Deal or No Deal, The Apprentice, American Idol, etc. and i know that Moffat tried to create a US version of Coupling, but it still does surprise me. i guess i never contemplated that a drama of those sorts would go the way of an american remake as opposed to, say, just airing the british version in the US like they did with Doctor Who.
