fun with direction:

when one says that they're "down with [blank]", that's a positive thing.

when one says that they're "up for [blank]", that's also a positive thing.

when one says "that's right", that's a positive affirmation.

so you'd think that anything regarding "left" should also imply some sort of positive something, but "left" isn't used as that sort of expression. it makes me want to start responding to questions with some form of "left' so that left doesn't feel left out of the mix.

Maybe nobody uses left for a positive saying because left was seen as wrong or bad in the past. In Italian the word for left sounds very close to the word sinister.

Just a thought though.

Left-handed kids were forced to use their right hands, and it seems I've heard something about thinking that using the left hand made one more susceptible to being possessed by demons.
