how my brain works.

so i'm doing music/sound design for a game that my brother is developing, currently in beta. one of the "to do" items is "victory" music/sound, basically a "you finished the level!" audio.

originally i was going to use a single victory sound for all of the game's stages. Then i thought, "there should probably be an alternative sound used if you finish the level well," so that turned into two victory sounds.

Then i started thinking about how i built the music for the game - particularly how the music evolves over the various game stages and states (which is hard to explain without spoilers) - and decided that i needed to create eight unique victory sounds to match that evolution (four primary and four alternate), some of which would play simultaneously depending on how well the player does.

And that led to more thinking about how the music and gameplay evolves a different way which resulted in the conclusion that really if i'm going to do this right, i really should have 64 unique victory sounds.

and this is a side project.

it's possible that my general high standards of conceptual musical design contributes to how busy and crazy my life is.

I always loved that in Ms Pac Man there was different music for the three reward/intermission screens. I bet people would be really happy about different music.

Wow! What an undertaking-- especially as a (*gulp!*) side project... but it sounds really cool!
