i'm not much of an online chat person. It depends on the person and the intention. I don't mind at all if people decide to strike up random conversation with me, but i'll hardly ever strike up random conversation myself. usually my IMs have more purpose. but i welcome chat... i just don't want it to be a daily habit (sometimes just the "hi, how are you?" kind of chats that go nowhere with the same person every three or so days can bug me), and i tend to hibernate when i'm swamped with work, but i *do* love to hear how people are doing and to keep those connections, more than what i might get from just reading LJ entries.

due to a recent certain circumstance, i got an AOLIM account, which brings my IM account total to three. I centralize all of those accounts through a multi-IM client for Mac called Proteus, so they're all always on since my 'pewter is always online. i'm not always by the 'pewter, but i also use all of those accounts as another answering machine alternative, especially since i tend to be slow with my house phone's voice answering machine. if you want to add me to your buddy list, feel free. all info is on my profile page.
