it's like drum corps, except not.

yesterday i made a new record for time spent in a single day on DDR.

i wanted to play double before i went to visit tyler, so i went to the ATAM and spent about an hour and a half there, getting some ridiculous scores on double. there were multiple tunes where i improved by 70-80 DP just because i haven't played them since i became a much better player.

Then after eating lunch, i went to the EMU to hang out with Tyler and wait for mer to get out of her day camp thing. i played a little bit of DDR off and on there, maybe a half hour of actual playing time. Then Tyler, Mer, and I went back to the ATAM to play on Tyler's machine where we played DDR for about... six hours.

that's eight hours of DDR. that's a lot.

the nice thing is that in total i only spent about $5, and then i earned that back plus a dollar more playing poker with tyler and his buddies until 3am.

good times.

The other nice thing is that my legs felt fine. if i wanted to, i could do another eight hours today. I remember when playing for an hour or two would tire me out and make me play crappy for the rest of the day. It's not like i was playing easy tunes either.

i doubt i'll play at all today. though. I should allow for some recovery time, and i need to finish up some Willamette stuff anyway... a good bit of the day will be spent on that before hanging out with Rachel.

There's so much about my DDR playing that i still need to fine tune. I feel myself getting so close. It's almost more frustrating to have it be like that, but i have a drive right now. i don't know if i've felt like this since marching in the 1996 Crossmen or the 1998 WCU bass line. I definitely feel like i've gained the stamina back from when i used to march.

i'm starting to get really good at poker. Tyler and I are similar in how we play and how we can read people and each other. We agreed that if there was ever a partner tournament, we would clean house.

If tyler and you joined forces it would be an unstopable iron fist rule.
