mother fucking god dammit shit.

So sometime this afternoon, one of the girls who was in the Willamette color guard this fall named Lindsey was killed in an accident.

i don't know all of the details... i guess she was walking across the street and a van ran over her. Supposedly the accelerator was stuck and he couldn't stop.

I didn't really know her. I couldn't even tell you what she looked like. there were about ninety people in the fall marching band and i have a horrible memory for faces and names.

but i know people that were best friends with her. a few are in my drum line. i know people that are probably still weeping about it right now, and more will probably weep tomorrow if they don't know about it already.

and even though i didn't know her, i still mourned for her. one of my students, one of my children had her life taken away from her. she must have been at least nine years younger than me.

*sigh*. it's just not right.

It's sad when these things happen, but sometimes you have to question the public's common sense, too. Watch how people cross the street these days...it's amazing anyone makes it. Instead of DARE programs, cops came to us in first grade and told us how to cross the street safely. It worked, at least compared to DARE.
I had a friend whose son reported that a pal fell off the roof of the dorm in a rainstorm. They were up there, just sitting around. One person without common sense out of the gene pool.
