entry one of two: a tribute to ddrinfinity

it was a little over a year ago that i made my first post on ddrinfinity.

it's strange to think of a DDR forum as having such a profound effect on my life, but it really did. I've changed a great deal as a person in the past year, and i owe a good half of that to the seed planted from becoming a member of ddrinfinity and joining the oregon DDR family.

not since drum corps/marching band have i found such an eclectic group of individuals who regardless of age, background or whatever can come together and be a *society*, one that people on the outside look at and scratch their heads.

i've made friends for life because of ddrinfinity. For me, it started with Tyler, Meredith, Angelo, and Josh, and from there it expanded outward and grew into this network of a dozen or two friends who i keep tabs on and care a great deal about. Half of my LJ friends are from the DDR community, and i will never forget them. they've helped me grow as a person, they've supported me through my tough times, they've introduced me to aspects of my life i would never have been aware of.

If it wasn't for ddrinfinity (coupled with Willamette surely, but that's a tangent), i might have never developed a concept of "home" here in Oregon.

i could go on and on, but it would turn into a ramble. Suffice it to say that i will always look back upon this past year with fond memories. i'm not sure if the new ddrinfinity will eventually feel the same or not, but if for some reason it doesn't or if it also has to pass from this existence, the network of people who i call family will never stray far from my heart.

cheesy, but true.

Being a part of ddri has definitely affected my life in many ways and I'm really glad that i signed on and started making the 2.5 hour drive to eugene to meet everyone. I definitely could have headed down a different (and bad) path..but i didn't :)
