poker chip cases.

the case for the poker chips we bought had a really cheap handle that broke off pretty soon after we bought it.

i have this idea of making my own cheap poker chip "case" made completely of PVC pipe. i know my way around PVC pipe having built large stage backdrops that could be raised or lowered to various heights completely out of PVC pipe. So i know it would be easy for me to do, all for probably under $15. i just have to decide on the most efficient design.

the design scheme that's currently in my head is to use two rows of pipes that "drop" the chips inside that lock in place by using long metal rods that go through the pipes at the top and bottom. I also want to make the two rows detachable so that you can carry one at a time if you want, and also let people carry it with either a handle or a shoulder strap.

the big problem with doing it like this is that if you want to get the chips out, you need to "dump" the chips out of the pipe, and if the whole row of pipes are PVC-glued together, it would be difficult to take out just some of the chips without all of the chips in all of the rows coming out and scattering, making a mess.

the other option is to make the tubes "housable" within a slightly larger structure so you can take each tube out individually to dump chips, or give each tube its own "latch" so that you can open and dump one tube at a time.

i don't know, though. it would be nice to make something more "openable" so you could grab as many chips as you need as opposed tot having to dump the chips out. But that would be difficult to figure out with PVC pipe.

maybe i'll give it some more thought while i cook dinner.

So, uh, what's cooking?

it was pretty simple. just chopped a quarter onion, put it in a saucepan with pinto beans, added some crushed red pepper, black pepper, a pinch of garlic salt, pepper jack cheese chunks. cooked it at low heat, ate with chips.
