So recently a former student of mine from Chichester got in contact with me (no, not you, jess2002far) and told me that at Chi, i'm some kind of Legend. I guess Alan and the old Price crew used to tell stories about me, about my musicianship, my perfect pitch, my teachings and writings, and some of my quirkiness.

I'm not sure how true that is or how far it extends to the people in that band, but it's somewhat shocking and somewhat uncomfortable. I mean, maybe i'm a talented and accomplished person. But all i see myself as is a Person. Even if i could call myself a legend, it wouldn't be at a place like Chichester where all I ever did was work for one fall season and i can only remember the faces of maybe four or five of my students. I'd rather be remembered for the stuff I did at Township, or Willamette, or even Upper Merion because I devoted more time and years and therefore more of my heart to the program and to the students. And even then... it feels weird.

I mean, *i* didn't really do anything except act as a guide. True, i might have been the one that helped draw out some of the talent, but the real accomplishment as far as i'm concerned is in the students' abilities to grab hold of the physical and mental challenges i give them and conquer them beyond my expectations. I think adults and older teachers have a tendency to underestimate how intelligent some of these kids are just because they can lack maturity. I tend to put more faith in what my kids can accomplish, and how they handle some of the complexities I teach them and write for them.

Maybe for that reason, i'm put on a pedestal.

i don't know. i can't figure it out.

What was I saying again?
