This is a long, rambly, here-was-my-day entry.

I still don't have a new monitor for my new g4, but i took the good monitor off of my g3 and put it on my g4 and stuck a crappy monitor on my g3 so i could fiddle with the new machine. OS X is a foreign object to me. not in a bad way, it's just different. I got some software for it - some Sync software for my PDA, a new LJ client, a multi-IM client called Proteus.

Fun stuff.

The other thing I tried to do was to take my printer and attempt to connect it to my LAN as opposed to just being on my g3. While all of the computers in the apartment can now talk to each other if necessary, the printer isn't showing up on the network. The ethernet switch light is on to indicate that the connection is valid, but none of the Macs are recognizing it. I spent a good hour trying to figure it out and got nowhere.

Not so fun stuff.

Right around 18:15, the UPS came by and delivered my beatmania controller. I couldn't fiddle with it so much then because i had to leave for the high school football game. The band performed *really* well, i thought, but again we have the issue of only having about seven brass people total, and our woodwinds can only try to cut through the sound so much.

I'm so proud of them, though. They were so happy with their performance.

Great stuff.

After half time, i went home and then binged on beatmania for a little bit before going out to play pool for the first time in about a month - one of the longest stretches i've had since about a year ago. At first, I was sucking hardcore... missing stupid shots, making bad breaks. It was frustrating. But after a few rounds, the skill i acquired from taking a year of pool class came back to me, and i started sinking more consistently and confidently. I think that if we had done a couple more rounds, i might have been able to clear the table.

Then i came home and played beatmania for about an hour and a half.

It was interesting switching to to the Beamania controller from the PS2 Controller. For a bunch of the tunes using the real controller is much easier, but i started getting pretty good at using the PS2 controller as a substitute, and for certain tunes, i felt like the beatmania controller was almost more clunky and less efficient. I'll get used to it, though.

now... to bed. teaching a three hour rehearsal tomorrow, and then i think i'm going to nap while everyone is at the UofO vs. Michigan football game. Or maybe go to Circuit City. Again.

Wow. Didn't i say a long time ago that event-based entries suck? Here's your example right here.

The saddest part is, I have 27 brass players, and I'll bet you your brass plays louder then mine... I am getting sofrustrated with these kids... The just don't want to listen! I've never seen so many 14 years old with attitudes...
