it's official.

1. moving to new orleans, going to attempt to be there by August 1st.

2. I do *not* currently have the new Steven Brust book in my grubby little hands, and that is pissing me off to no end.

i still don't know what to do with my cat. and i've started to reconsider driving out instead of flying out. we'll see.

i'll post more stuff when i can, but boy is stuff piling up.

ah, mallory. i hope that isn't too much trouble to figure out. i still feel partly responsible...

so i'm flying to OR tomorrow. can we hang next week, pleeeeeaaase?

pick a time after work hours, my schedule is fairly flexible.

don't feel responsible for the mallory circumstance. katie and i decided to have mallory together. she was a part of our home. neither of us anticipated where we'd be today.

it's a tough situation - i don't know if i have it in me to take care of her on my own in new orleans. i have to think about it a little more.

it's not without a degree of sadness that i'm leaving.

you better continue taking care of yourself, you.

Hi Mendel - congrats on the job!

We moved our 3 cats out to NC via airplane and it all went swimmingly. I thought they'd be terrified, but once they came out of their crates were surprisingly quick to adjust!

I am super protective of my kitties and I believe they were handled really well. :)

for me, it's not so much an issue of that as much as whether or not i can or want to deal with raising a cat in new orleans without any real backup (since here, my ex can take care of her if necessary when i'm out of town or have too much other crap going on).

It also has to do with cost management. Taking this job is a pay cut and the cost of living is higher, and when i first got the cat it was with my live-in gf so we split the cost of cat thingies. Absorbing all of that cost wasn't a huge deal when we split apart because my job paid well enough relative to cost of living.

we'll see though. i am pretty fond of her. just want to make sure she's taken care of well, and i don't know if me in NO is the right person to do it.

If you do anything as a going-away thing, let me know. I may try to be there.

i'll be sure to post something up. i'm not sure if i'll be able to pull it off because of the short time span, more likely that maybe next summer i'll do a bash.

because i'm reconsidering the idea of driving, i may breeze by the bay area, though. haven't yet decided, assessing costs.

Congratulations on getting the job Mendel.
If you drive, leave yourself some time to visit the Grand Canyon. Worth any and all extra time and miles :)

i went to the grand canyon a loooong time ago when i was younger. fell off of bryce canyon, which is why i am now afraid of heights. we'll see if i feel like venturing that direction again.

and thanks, sir. :)
