help. i need quotes.

a piece of music is forming in my head. i need people's favorite quotes that are public domain, a meaningful sort of thing and all that. the catch is that somewhere in the middle of the quote there needs to be an "sh" sound, preferably at the beginning of the word rather than the end, or even more preferably both, with the end "sh" before the beginning "sh".

Anais Nin
She's a great source for some good quotes:

Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.
Anais Nin

No "sh" sound, but one of my favorites:
There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.
Anais Nin

and my other fav:
We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are.
Anais Nin

Re: Anais Nin
it's funny when you sent this to me because i first read anais nin as "aninas nin" who is an erotica fiction author, and i got somewhat confused. :)

Re: Anais Nin
I have not heard of Aninas Nin - but Anais Nin has certainly written her share of what can be called erotica. Some of it autobiographical, perhaps most but disguised. Rent the movie Henry & June for a good introduction to her and Henry Miller, her contemporary and lover for a time.

Re: Anais Nin
maybe it's the same person and i'm just ignorant. i'll have to dig out my one box of books where i have something of her's. tells you what i know. :)

Henry Miller, to round it out...
All with an "sh"

In this age, which believes that there is a short cut to everything, the greatest lesson to be learned is that the most difficult way is, in the long run, the easiest.
Henry Miller

Until we accept the fact that life itself is founded in mystery, we shall learn nothing.
Henry Miller

We should read to give our souls a chance to luxuriate.
Henry Miller

What distinguishes the majority of men from the few is their ability to act according to their beliefs.
Henry Miller

Whatever I do is done out of sheer joy; I drop my fruits like a ripe tree. What the general reader or the critic makes of them is not my concern.
Henry Miller

Re: Henry Miller, to round it out...
the difficult way is the easiest quote has a lot of potential with what i'm trying to accomplish, so i'll probably end up using that. we'll see how well it works. lots churning in my brain.

thanks. :)

William S. Burroughs for something different
No "sh" - but I like this one.

I don’t care if people hate my guts; I assume most of them do. The important question is whether they are in a position to do anything about it.
~William S. Burroughs

Ok, last set... for now
All with "sh" sound... Both from Steven Brust

To seek understanding before taking action, yet to trust my instincts when action is called for. Never to avoid danger from fear, never to seek out danger for its own sake. Never to conform to fashion from fear of eccentricity, never to be eccentric from fear of conformity.

No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will cramp his style.
