i've always been more of a desktop computer fan than a laptop fan. i've never felt that the idea of portability was important enough of a cost difference to make up for how much less computer i get and how much harder it is to expand. i always figured i could get a laptop just as an internet machine and keep my power on my desktop.

because of a hand-me down of sorts, i have this PC laptop now in addition to my mac desktop, and i started to get used to it as more of my main machine because it's faster and newer than my G4. And between that and the general populace going more towards laptops and seeing the macbook and etc., a part of me started to think, "hey, maybe the next main machine i get, my next mac should be a laptop instead.

And then today i tried to take the pc laptop apart because i'm havng issues with the fan.

and yeah, fuck this laptop shit. when i need two different screwdrive bits and a hexagon bit to unscrew about twenty screws including some covered by plastic stick-on covers and about an hour just to see if i need to replace the goddamn fan, it's just not worth it.

so i think that if i do end up getting a laptop for travel purposes or whatever, it'll likely be an [eee pc] that i can get for about $300 or so. it'd be a good excuse to learn linux anyway.

it's too bad that the newest mac desktops are a little beyond my price range right now. i've had my mac desktop for a good... six? years now.

ah well. maybe i'll hit the bad beat jackpot today.

My hubby monopolizes the PC (he plays WOW). So I convinced him to get me a laptop for my programming stuffs. I had a hard time getting one with out the evil vista, but I managed. I can take it to school with me. It is my primary because it is useless to try to use the PC. I have never needed to take it apart and am glad for that.

Yea, I don't play. I have seen how frustrated he gets with stupid people in pug groups. When I play a computerized roll playing game I do it to get away from people.

my issues with WoW are a little more complicated than that, but again, extreme sorts of examples that don't have current context anymore.
