about time for bed, but here's a quick five question meme for nostalgia sake and to get some new material on here. these questions came from girfan. comment if you want your own questions to answer.

1. If you could move anywhere outside the US, would you do so and where would you like to go?
2. What would you eat/drink for your last meal?
3. Music or poker: which gives you more pleasure?
4. What is your all-time fave television series?
5. What super power would you want to have?

1. If you could move anywhere outside the US, would you do so and where would you like to go?

i'm definitely open to the idea of moving outside of the US. i like the idea of putting myself in a completely new environment with practically no connections whatsoever, somewhere new to start fresh and build even more connections than i already have. the tough thing would really be job-related as my current "real" job is in a field that's very US-centric. There aren't a lot of marching band/drumlines outside of the US. i could go back into corporate life if i wanted to, but i don't really want to unless it's in my own business.

as for where i would want to be, it would either somewhere in great britain or australia. I'm pretty enamored with british culture (or at least what i know about it). Australia i know very little about other than a few friends who have lived there and liked it (although they are all now back in the states).

2. What would you eat/drink for your last meal?

my tastes change, and i'm sure in my old age (assuming i live to be old) will change too, so it's hard to say, really. but i'm sure the drink would be either grey goose or belvedere vodka, jameson, or maker's mark.

3. Music or poker: which gives you more pleasure?

interesting question because of the "pleasure" part. ask me what's more important, what i'm more passionate about, the answer is music, hands down. but pleasure?

i think the answer is still music. poker is a great way for me to keep my brain sharp, socialize with strangers, have a good time, all that. But there's something about music that hits me in deeper layers. i love creating it, i love playing it, i love being a part of its culture and being floored by a particularly good piece of it. The other night, my friend gave me a rehearsal recording of my new choir piece that's going to get performed this weekend, and hearing my notes on the page that had previously only existed in my head being realized by a live ensemble made me smile and nearly laugh out loud out of pure instinct. it's hard to beat that.

4. What is your all-time fave television series?

wow, tough question. *ponders*

the problem is that any television has its hot and cold moments for me, so pinning one down as an all-time fave is tough. but candidates include blake's 7, firefly, futurama, red dwarf, stargate sg-1, QI, sherlock, batman beyond, justice league unlimited, and the mentalist.

5. What super power would you want to have?

oh that's easy. i want a green lantern power ring. green lantern has been my favorite super hero ever since i was a kid and watched superfriends. i'm really excited about the new animated series. the first episode i watched was pretty good, need to catch up on it.

i can't stop touching my hair since i got it cut today. it's the shortest it's been in a while, and i really like it.

Have you ever been to the UK?

I'd love some questions...why not?
Mar. 21st, 2012 04:39 pm (UTC)
have not been to the UK yet. it always seems like such a planning logistical hassle and an expense that i can't afford. i really should make a plan to visit there though.

1. when things are overly stressful, what keeps you relaxed?
2. what's your overall 5-10 year career goal plan?
3. what's the best thing about being married?
4. what's your favorite unhealthy thing to eat?
5. when you see a random stranger when you're out and about, what's the first thing you notice?

I answered your questions with my own responses in my head before reading your responses. For #4 I said Red Dwarf, so I was excited to see it in your list.

I didn't pause enough between your answer to number 5 and your comment about your haircut, so I was trying to figure how they were related. Does Green Lantern have short hair?

I'll do some questions.
Mar. 22nd, 2012 02:50 pm (UTC)
no relation to the hair vs green lantern thing. that was a pre vs post lj-cut thing.

1. what's the biggest non-obvious cultural difference between Japan vs the US?
2. where do you eventually want to live?
3. what was important to you 5 years ago that is not important to you now? what about the opposite?
4. top 5 movies.
5. how are you doing? like, really?
Mar. 22nd, 2012 05:08 pm (UTC)
Ah, ok. Whenever I see an lj-cut, I click it, so I never pay attention to what is enclosed by the lj-cut and what isn't.

Oops! Moving the answers to my lj like a good memer.
