i'm on TV!

well, no not really. But for those that are interested, there are a few MPGs of me playing ITG with Kyle from when i went up there last friday.

http://www.kawmedia.com/ITG/sound.MPG (5mb) - this is a part of me and dr4b playing one of diskozombie's tunes. I'm playing on Hard blind, and deanna is playing on medium. it's groovy and fun to play, but the steps aren't too flashy to look at compared to...

http://www.kawmedia.com/ITG/lemmings.MPG (11mb) - this tune is *crazy*... not because of all of the flam taps or 16th note runs, but because of the FREAKIN' MINES. I started to incorporate a philosophy on avoiding mines by stepping on the metal as opposed to jumping in the air higher. That might not work for certain kind of mine placements, but it feels more comfortable for certain kinds of mines. Fun rhythms. I'm playing on expert blind, and deanna is playing on hard.

http://www.kawmedia.com/ITG/Vertex.MPG (12mb) - if the last tune is crazy, this tune is just... fucked up. I'm playing on hard blind with mines turned off, whcih makes the tune a lot easier to read, *especially* the 600bpm section. kyleward is playing on expert. I laughed when i played it the first time because during the triplet section, Kyle's side had the "M" lick in it. Well... the "M" rhythm anyway (2 against 3). Kyle has a looooot of 16th note runs. go kyle go!

http://www.kawmedia.com/ITG/tell.MPG (5mb) - It's the 1812 overture for techno! The most notable thing about this one is that Kyle is playing with the boomerang option on, which is hard to read if you're not used to it. Plus again i wussed out and turned my mines off.

Fun stuff.

Acronyms out the ass....
Ok I got it DDR stands for Dance Dance Revolution, ITG stands for in the groove? but ATAM and whats the difference between DDR and ITG and who does that at the ATM I mean I have a hard enough time realizing I don't have any money in my ATM to be busy tapping my feet to a beat on a DDR at the ATM. help......

Re: Acronyms out the ass....
DDR = Dance Dance Revolution, the dance game made by konami.

ITG = In The Groove, the dance game that's being beta tested in Seattle right now that will get released in a few arcades at the end of the month. One of my friends is on the development team of the game, and so i'm looking to use my connection with him to get involved with game development for the next version that comes out (whenever that is).

ITG is just a competing game to DDR. i think of it as DDR enhanced. After a while, Konami got lazy with their game... they knew they were going to churn a profit, so they didn't do too much to try to make the game fresh or new. ITG takes the DDR game concept and makes it fresher and more interesting, and it's just more well-tuned. it has its issues, but i think it's going to take off.

ATAM stands for "All That And More", which is a family fun center here in Eugene. The owner, Mike Guido, told me before that I would be able to host a profit-share machine at his place if i could get the funds. That was some months back, and now i'm trying to organize all of that stuff again.

if i ever talk about DDRI, that stands for DDRInfinity, the forum of Oregon DDR players. SM stands for stepmania, which is a DDR simulator for your computer made by the same group of people that are on the ITG project.

Re: Acronyms out the ass....
It kinda looks like they are borrowing some of the Stepmania mods for it. Looks like a lot of fun and I like the music that I've heard from these videos ^_^

Silly boy, I'm the one playing on the right side on Dizzy Medium in that first video. Not that you can really tell :)
Jan. 14th, 2004 02:15 pm (UTC)
really? oh. :p were you in any of the other ones?

yeah... i can't see *anything* on those videos of the people playing. I started to make out my ponytail when i pulled the brightness of my monitor from 4% (i like dark screens) to 90%, but it started to hurt my eyes, so i brought it back down.

i'll go back and edit that.

yeah, you are in another one. you're the one playing lemmings with me.

*screen.... too... bright!....*

*goes to make another edit*

I saw those videos, looks like a lot of fun. There is only one real video in which I can tell it is you.

I read entry below about the problems at ATAM, maybe the EMU but most likely not. Well good luck with it.

Re: Coolness
the EMU is unlikely because they have a contract for getting all of their games through an outside company. Amusement Limited, maybe.

we'll see what happens. I might be able to convince Mike that putting an ITG in place of DDR there is a worthwhile risk.
